Habitual Traffic Offenders

If you get convicted of three (3) Driving While License Suspended (DWLS) charges within a 5 year period, the Department of Motor Vehicles will suspend your license for 5 years, and categorize you as a Habitual Traffic Offender (HTO). If you received a letter from the State of Florida stating that you have been classified as a Habitual Traffic Offender and that your license has been suspended for a 5 year period you may be wondering if there is anything that can be done. The answer is yes!

Call The Law Office of Robert Gibson, PA at (904) 273-3000

Our office has hundreds of success stories! We are proud to have assisted our clients in successfully removing them from HTO status and in obtaining valid Florida licenses. We have heard from many clients about how excited and happy they are to be able to drive legally again, without the fear of being arrested.

HTO status did not happen overnight, and it won’t be corrected overnight. This is usually a process that takes 3-6 months, depending on your situation.  There are exceptions, w have had people get their license back in less than a month, it all depends on your record, and whether you have complied with the court ordered requirements.  While the process is lengthy; the end result of having your driving privileges reinstated makes it all worthwhile. To increase your chances of  being able to re-instate your license, call us as soon as you are notified of your HTO status. The faster we are able to work on the restoration of your license the quicker you can be on the road legally.  In the alternative, if you continue to drive and are stopped for any reason, chances are that you can now be charged with a felony and points could trigger a second HTO.

Don’t Drive While You Are A Habitual Traffic Offender ... the price of picking up a felony charge can get cost you more than the price of an attorney.

Call today, (904) 273-3000 and let us help you get back on the road legally.

Drivers can have double or triple HTO’s on their records, and not even realize what is preventing them from obtaining a license. This usually requires a research fee, to determine exactly what is causing the HTO.   In such cases as this we still have been successful in restoring our client’s driving privileges. If you are in this category, time is of the essence. The longer you wait, the more you decrease your success rate in getting your driving privileges back.

If you just received a citation do not pay those tickets without first consulting our office.  However, if you are a Habitual Traffic offender, all previously assessed “court costs” do need to be paid prior to our office being able to represent you to clear your HTO status.

If you have questions, contact us at (904) 273-3000.

The State of Florida Will Not Issue You A License Due To Another State…

Many drivers coming to Florida with a license suspended in another state and find that the State of Florida will not issue them a license. We will be happy to assist you if there is a Florida citation involved, however, you need to also hire an attorney in the state that suspended your license. In many cases you will have to resolve the out of state driving issue first. We could represent you for the Florida citation, but that does not mean the State of Florida will issue you a license until you have resolved your out of state driving record.
